If you have a local business and are listed in Google's Local Business Center, don't you want to Dominate the Google Local Search? I mean when people are looking for your business don't you want to be listed 1st or better yet…

Be the Only Business listed on the page?!?!

This would be the equivalent of being the only business in the Yellow Pages in your category back when people actually used those things.

Below you can see an example of how I helped a client get a single map listing. Can you imagine how much business this can generate for your company?

Now if you want to get started you need to claim your listing in the Google Local Business Center.

So here's the quick steps to get you started.

1) Go to Google's Local Business Center right here ==> www.google.com/local/add

2) Complete your profile throughly using keywords you want to rank for

3) Enter the proper categories

4) Confirm your listing

5) Tweak and optimize you listing

6) Get your site listed with all the other major local listing sites to boost your authority in Google's eyes

Now obviously this is a quick and simple explanation but it should get you started and at least get you listed.

If you are looking to get a top ranking in Google local search, get your listing optimized to get you more customers I have a solution for you. I'm now offering a…

Wow! What a game! Everyone was talking about what a great win the New Orleans Saints had last night and I have to agree. Awesome game.

Now, as a marketer, I watched the game for other reasons as well, and the Colts definitely weren't the only losers last night.

I mean did you see all those overpriced commercials that were most likely produced by some monkeys at a high priced ad agency. I mean yeah…some were funny… but what does fat guys running around in their underwear have to do with getting a job? Does that appeal to the women crowding around watching the game? Definitely doesn't excite the men who were watching. (Think Target Market People)

Don't get me wrong. I thought the commercial was funny but who is gonna remember the company when you're ready to look for a job? Who is gonna TAKE ACTION? Isn't the purpose of advertising to get people to take an action (preferably go somewhere, buy something)?

Well there were a couple of commercials that actually "Got It".

One that really got it was GoDaddy.com. They spend a ton of money every year on their Super Bowl ads but its okay cause they get it. The have attractive looking females (appeals to men and women) that have an appealing story…then its stopped with a CALL TO ACTION to learn more.

Another company that did a so so job was Denny's. They have calls to action (offers for FREE food). The things I would have done differently would be to target the football crowd, show what my product or brand is along with the benefits, make an offer, send them to a website or facebook page where they have to sign up for the offer so you can teach them more about your offer and then be able to market to them over and over by building a relationship with them.

Remember all ads, must contain these 5 components no matter what type of advertisement it is:

1. A Strong Headline
2. Copy should state the benefits.
3. Have an offer.
4. Needs a call to action.
5. Must have a deadline.

Does all of your marketing materials have all these criteria?

Download my FREE report ==========> Marketing Report and "Mini-Course"

To see examples of how to use the 5 criteria in your marketing.

K..gotta run but I want to hear your comments. Leave a comment below.

No this isn't another breaking news update on the latest saga of the Tiger Woods saga but it is a little lesson on marketing your business.

As you know everyone absolutely love news stories, especially ones that involve huge celebrities. (Remember the news coverage on the Michael Jackson death?) As the famous marketer Robert Collier said "You must enter into the conversation already happening in your customers mind…"

With news stories like this you can take advantage of what people are already talking about and slide your marketing message right in with what they are already thinking about.

No, I'm not saying compare your business with the Tiger Woods situation… that can be a sticky situation since many people are opposed with what is going on with it.

Let me give you an example of how you could take advantage of current events.

1) Use it in your headline for a marketing piece to grab your customers attention as I have here. An example is I recommended a car insurance company that I advise to use the headline "If Tiger Woods Had Gone With XXX Auto Insurance, He Would Have Gotten _____".

2) Create a unique package/offer or rename one of your existing offers to relate with the headline.

3) Make a story that ties your offer in with the news event.

4) Email and snail mail this offer to new or existing customers but most definitely talk about it on your website and blog. This can create word of mouth and could go viral on the Internet. Other advantages is it can boast your SEO and search engine marketing greatly.

These tips obviously can be applied to any news event. The closer it relates to your potential customers the better.

Some other recent examples you could have used was Twilight: The New Moon, The Balloon Boy, or the recent snow storms.

The main point of all of this is DON'T BE BORING in your marketing! Find a reason to contact your customers and build relationships!

Have a profitable week.

do right now to generate tons of leads in the
most cost effective manner.

	1. Market Your Business Online

Of course I would put this one first, but seriously…the Internet
is a huge force and consumers (your potential customers) are relying on it big time.
Consequently, other media like the yellow pages
and newspapers are dying a slow death. If you're still
spending money in either of these media, I hope it's only
because you're already maxing out your Internet marketing
efforts.

You see, with Pay Per Click marketing you create targeted
ads that position you in front of interested, ready-to-buy
prospects at the EXACT moment they're looking for you. Plus,
you only pay when someone clicks on your ad.

Could you imagine the look on your yellow pages or newspaper
ad reps if you told them you'll only be paying AFTER someone
responds to your ad? Well, that's exactly what happens when
with Pay Per Click marketing.

Now of course that is called "Pay" per click for a reason, you
are spending a lil money to get someone to come to your site.
Another area of online marketing that is more cost effective (FREE!)
is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This is the process

	2. Use Highly Targeted Direct Mail

This is another area I've talked about time and time again.
(Read my past blog posts for more specifics on it.)
If you're sending out direct mail, but aren't doing anything
to make sure it's highly targeted, you're wasting both time
and money.

Direct mail is still one of the most effective means of
generating new prospects and clients, but only if done
correctly. Unfortunately, most companies blast out 5,000
postcards to names within a certain area, but they don't
give any thought as to how qualified that 'prospect' truly
is.

To be most effective, I recommend trimming your direct mail
list to somewhere around 1,000-2,500 names, depending on
your budget, and then send them not just one postcard or
letter, but send them a series of letters, once a month or
so over the next 12-18 months.

Yes it seems like a lot, but the results you'll generate
will absolutely blow away the traditional 'blast out 5K
postcards in the Spring and in the Fall'.

	3. Create Joint Venture Relationships

This method is one of the most overlooked marketing methods.
I mean the name of the game is "get your sales message in
front of as many qualified prospects as possible", right?

Well, as you no doubt already know, it's an extremely
expensive and time consuming proposition.

But when you partner up with businesses that are already
servicing your ideal client you bypass both the time and
expense part because you're borrowing the trust and
credibility your JV partner has with his client list.

The best way to approach this is to find a group of
non-competitive businesses that are already servicing your
ideal client. Come up with some killer offer you can make
them and tell your new JV partner that you'll let him give
this offer to his clients as a 'gift'.

Your JV partner will send out a letter (or you send it out
on their stationary written like it's from them) telling his
customers about the 'free gift', he gets a bunch of
surprised and satisfied clients, and you get a whole bunch
of new, qualified clients for your business.

Listen John, I'm not going to sugar coat things and
tell you all this economic turmoil is just a bunch of
baloney made up by the news media. Yes, I do believe they
tend to exaggerate things quite a bit, but the problems
we're seeing are very real.

However, it doesn't mean you can't still create a thriving,
profitable business amidst the storm. All it takes is a
little focus, some determination, but most importantly SMART
execution of solid business principles.

I've shared 3 such ideas with you today, so now it's up to
you to put them into effect for your business!

So, what are these core success principles?

Here's my list of the top 7:

	1. Marketing should be your #1 priority. No customers, no
    business, plain and simple.

	2. You should be doing something EVERY SINGLE DAY to market
your business. Doesn't matter how small it is. Take action.

	3. Focus on quality prospects not quantity. A handful of
quality prospects will do a whole lot more for your business
than a bunch of mediocre ones.

	4. Become known as 'the expert'. People like to work with
'the best' and the way you can become known as that is to position
    yourself as 'the expert'.

	5. Forget about branding your business. Build name recognition
through consistent, effective direct response marketing. This
does not mean blast your name out there in worthless
advertisement you see other companies doing. Do you have
the budget that Coca-Cola and McDonalds does? Use direct response only.

	6. If you're not online yet, you're already waaaaay behind the
curve. Because of the way your customers and prospects are
researching their options, you've got to be online when they
    come looking for you.

	7. Don't forget about your existing customers. They're your most
valuable asset and it's 10x's easier to sell them than it is to
sell to a brand new customer.

Keep these 7 points in mind as your looking to grow your business
Sorry its been so long since I've written…

Hope you enjoyed your Halloween…now its time to
really get to work. Only 2 months left until the NEW YEAR!
Things have been hectic around here.

Helping other businesses stay afloat in these
tough times is my specialty and has been keeping
me busy.

If your interested in learning more about how I
can help you give me a call, I have some openings
and giving away Two (2) FR*EE 30 day trials away.

Well let's get to today's subject.

What business are you really in?

	Insurance business, plumbing business,
real estate business…???

The real business that all of us need
to be in is MARKETING our "Insurance business,
plumbing business, real estate business…"

Isn't it true that without customers
you have no business?

Without a business, you lose out, your employees lose
and your customers lose!

So why is it that you aren't doing anything
to bring in more customers?

You know your customers love your products
and services, but you just need more of them.

You need to learn or find someone who can help
with your marketing.

In these times you can't just give your money to
the yellow page ad salesman and tell him to
create an ad (who uses the yellow pages still anyways?)

Look at the newspapers! They are going out of business.
You know why? Cause businesses know advertising there is
not profitable when you don't have the proper marketing knowledge

They haven't learned the skills to bring in customers.

Your job as a business owner is to get the cash
register to ring.

You need to be studying marketing and strategies
that are going to bring you a constant stream of
customers or at least know the basics so you know you
aren't getting scammed out of you money
when you do hire someone to do your marketing.

Stay tuned and I will be sending you important emails
that will tell you the most common marketing mistakes
of business owners, give you great tips for online
and offline that will start making you money.

In the mean time, this week's homework is to
send me an email at john@barryrealmarketing.com
to let me know what marketing challenges you are
currently facing.

Secondly, you need to study all my posts on my blog
at www.barryrealmarketing.com
There are many great lessons that will get you started.

	Have a profitable week,

As business people we don’t have the time to sit around on the Internet all day sending out messages, so that is how this next tool is such a time saver. Tweetlater.com or SocialOomph.com allows you to schedule your Tweets up to a year in advance.

Another great feature is that it allows you to follow people back that follow you.

Check out the video and then let me know if you have any questions in my comments.
